Oswestry Climate Action Hub is a community-led initiative based in Oswestry, Shropshire, bringing local people together to respond to climate challenges in practical, everyday ways.

Through talks, workshops, drop-ins and community events, residents are building knowledge, confidence and connections, creating the foundations for long-term, community-led action on climate, nature and food and the future of their town.

Building community participation around climate, food and nature

Oswestry Climate Hub brings together residents from Oswestry and the surrounding rural area who share concerns about climate change, food, nature, energy and the future of their community.

As a small market town serving a wider rural population, Oswestry faces particular challenges linked to transport, housing, energy and access to services. The Hub provides a space for people to come together, share knowledge, learn from one another and explore practical responses rooted in local circumstances.

Since 2023, the Hub has developed a growing programme of talks, workshops, drop-ins and community events, creating opportunities for residents to connect around climate, food and nature in ways that feel practical, local and relevant to everyday life. The focus is not simply on raising awareness, but on helping people move from individual concern to collective action.

Assemblies and structured community gatherings form part of this wider approach. They create opportunities for residents to share lived experience, identify common priorities and explore how local people can shape responses together.

Through this work, Oswestry Climate Hub is helping to strengthen local relationships, build confidence and create the conditions for deeper community participation. Together, these activities are laying the foundations for a long-term, community-led approach to climate, food and nature action in and around Oswestry.
