Working alongside Humanity Project, the Forum is exploring how People's Assemblies can help involve a wider range of residents in conversations about Prestwich's future and strengthen community participation in local decision-making.

Broadening participation in local decision-making
Prestwich Village Neighbourhood Forum is a resident-led organisation working to strengthen community voice and influence over the future of the town.
As Prestwich experiences ongoing change, many residents are looking for more meaningful ways to engage with decisions about planning, transport, public space and local development. The Forum provides a space for people to come together around shared concerns, develop ideas and engage constructively with local authorities and partners.
Since joining Humanity Project, the Forum has been exploring how People’s Assemblies could complement neighbourhood planning by creating space for dialogue, shared understanding and collective problem-solving. Assemblies offer an opportunity to hear from a wider range of residents, including voices that are often missing from traditional consultation processes.
Current activity focuses on engagement, relationship-building and testing how deliberative approaches might support more inclusive, resident-led conversations about the future of Prestwich. Together, this work is helping to lay the foundations for stronger community participation and greater local influence over place-based decisions.
